Fayetteville Mural Unveiling
Local artist Susan Grooms has recently completed a stunning new mural on the side of Fayetteville Store. The mural celebrates and highlights the rich history and culture of Fayetteville, Texas.
Inspired by the town’s heritage, Grooms aimed to create a piece that reflects Fayetteville’s cultural identity. “I love driving through a town and seeing a mural,” she explains. “They narrate the unique character of the city, and make the city feel truly alive. Murals are more than just art; they are testament to the community’s spirit and identity.”
The new mural, spanning 25 feet in length, features some of Fayetteville’s most iconic landmarks, including the Zapp Building, historic courthouse, water tower, Red & White Gallery, Old Gulf Station, Fayetteville ISD’s Red Schoolhouse, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Arts for Rural Texas, and, of course, the Czech flag.
The project was commissioned by the Fayetteville Economic Development Corp. with the help of Arts for Rural Texas (ARTS). “Fayetteville has such a strong artistic community, but until now, we have not had any public art,” says Kevin White, ARTS’ Director of Development. “One of the things that’s so exciting about this project is that we truly get to celebrate our community in a very public way.”
An official unveiling ceremony will be held on Friday, May 24th at 10 a.m. The community is invited to attend, meet the artist, and celebrate this new landmark.
