Spectrum Lecture Series Presents Joe Holley - Hometown Texas -  at the Red & White Gallery

As part of the Spectrum Lecture Series, Arts for Rural Texas is sponsoring a talk and book signing by Joe Holley, raconteur, newspaper columnist and author. This event promises to be a unique opportunity to experience an entertaining afternoon that covers miles of adventure will be held on Sunday, July 14th, at 4 PM in Fayetteville.  Holley’s newspaper column, “Native Texan” appears in the Houston Chronicle every Sunday. It tells the stories of Texas places and people, their particulars and sometime peculiarities. It is almost always very funny and always endearing.

The afternoon will include a book signing of Holley’s latest book, Hometown Texas, a collection of his columns along with photographs by Peter Brown. With particular interest in how people take the hand they’ve been dealt – fate family, circumstances, luck – and craft a life for themselves, the authors celebrate the grit and gumption of these Texas originals. Introducing quirky characters and tenacious spirits, Holley’s stories seek out the personality of the small town. Hometown Texas is an exploration across miles and cultures, of well-traveled roads and forgotten byways, deep into the heart of Texas.

The ARTS Spectrum Lecture featuring Joe Holley is open to all without charge.  Seating is available on a first come, first served basis. Snacks and refreshments will be served
