Fayetteville ArtWalk is a juried fine art show sponsored by ARTS. The show is held the first weekend in May on the lawn of the courthouse square in the historical community of Fayetteville, Texas. This charming small town is located in the gentle rolling hills of south central Texas, halfway between the metropolitan areas of Houston and Austin, an easy drive to a delightful day.
Fayetteville ArtWalk promotes local, regional and national artists. There are over 60 participating artists, a schedule of performing musicians and children's art instruction and activities. Over $6000 in award money is given to the artists selected by a judges panel.
In addition to the art, there are wine tastings, food booths and other attractions that make for a wonderful "fresh air" event.
For the first time, two Fayette County organizations have joined forces to create one art filled weekend.
ARTWALK, a project of Arts for Rural Texas, is located on the historical town square in Fayetteville, and the Round Top Arts Festival is held inside the event barns at The Compound located at 2550 S. State Highway 237 in Round Top. These two juried shows are just a few miles apart and feature 100+ artists, overall.
The collaboration has blended two, historically fine shows into one big art filled weekend, creating the opportunity for visitors from further afield to stay in Fayette County over the weekend, taking advantage of not only the art, but all that is offered throughout the countryside from quaint and sophisticated B&Bs to fine art galleries, fine and countrified dining options and top notch music, performed in any number of venues from Round Top and Fayetteville to La Grange.
